Recently just one day back saw this great bengali movie "Antaheen"...A great movie with a great cast n great music. The movie was about this unique relationship between Abhik and Brinda that develops from the long night chats that they have in an internet chat room..The very essence of the movie was how two completely different personas fall in love with each other inspite of the fact that they have never met each other and never even spoken with each other..The ending of the movie is what makes Antaheen a great movie. They never meet as in the end Brinda dies moments after getting to know that Abhik the super cop whom she hated initially is actually her "boy out the box" n she his "raat jaaga tara" in the virtual world. The most touching part of the movie Abhik visiting Brinda's home after her demise and reminiscing about her from all the chats they had..Brinda's voice echoing in the background as Abhik looks into the Self potrait of Freida Kalho hanging in her room or the "ek chilte roddur" coming in through her window or the red and blue kite that somehow seems to have got stuck in the antenna;the site of which always made Brinda sad..Thus the love for which Abhik craved became an 'Antaheen Opekkha' for him..
The movie really got me into thinking. Dont we all seem to have our own share of 'Antaheen Opekkha' endless wait for that satisfaction for that happiness or lets say for that love which we cannot define but still keep searching for...Wait seems to me the very essence of human life..I guess it is this endless wait for that 'something special' that forms the driving force the sustaining power of our mere lives..We work merely to see that mirage of ours being transformed into reality. We strive to achieve that one last thing which we think will grant us that ultimate satisfaction but then once we achieve we realise that our so called Ultimate happiness is nothing but a mirage and by the time we have realised this we have already spent a large part of our short lives in endlessly waiting to achieve the elixir of life ; Our ultimate form of satisfaction and happiness..
The movie really touched my heart and made me shed a few tears but most importantly got me thinking and in the end concluding that its never to late to initiate or forge a new beginning or as a matter of fact its never to late express those long subdued n suppressed feelings for a person, cause u never know when all those years of pent up feelings n ego will take the shape of a mountain and once it does it becomes very difficult to cross that mountain and reach out to the person on the other side ( thats what happens to the marriage of Ranjan and Paro in the movie)..
Let that opekhha drive you towards your elixir of life but let not that opekhha become a part of your life cause life is pretty unpredictable n extra ordinarily short to be wasted on endlessly waiting for something unknown undefined yet thought about every moment...
